The immorality & the calamities

Commission of a crime never owes to any physical disability of the perpetrator. It is an evil expression of his or her wicked immorality. In presence of extreme immorality, such crime turns terribly barbaric and genocidal. The genocidal ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar is indeed a sure diagnostic marker of such moral ill-health. The man-eating animals do not possess any moral compass; hence, killing humans isn’t considered a crime in the animal kingdom. So, no animal gets condemned for that. The same norm of animal kingdom overwhelms a country’s politics, religion, culture and warfare if the people with moral deprivation become ruler, religious leader or commander of the Army. Then, arson, rape, torture, murder and forceful eviction become the parts of politics, religion and culture. That has exactly happened in Myanmar. As a result, in last 3 months, more than six hundred thousand Rohingya Muslims have been evicted, more than three thousands have been killed, hundreds of Rohingya women are raped and more than half of the Muslim villages are torched down to ashes.

The liberty in genocide

The genocidal cleansing of the Rohingya Muslims -the stipulated key objective of the Myanmar government, has received a huge success. No other Army in the world could cause such a quick and massive eviction of the centuries-old settled people on earth. The Army could cleanse more than six hundred thousand people from their own homes in less than three weeks. They could also evict more than another four hundred thousand people in previous years. The Army have burnt about half of the Muslim villages in Arakan and made them completely empty for government take-over. The government needs such empty lands for building two deep sea ports: one for China and another for India. India needs that port to connect its eastern seven provinces. China needs that port to get quick access to outside markets from its southern part. This is why, both China and India have huge vested interest to support the ongoing ethnic cleansing in Arakan. Both China and India consider such cleansing of the Muslims population quite essential for safe passage for their trucks, oil pipelines and cargo ships. In the beautiful sea shore of Arakan, the government also need huge area of Muslim-free land for building Army barracks, government offices, residential blocks for the Burmese Buddhists and special economic zones for the foreign investors. Now, the ultra-nationalist ruling elite, the racist Army and the Muslim bashing Buddhist monks have enough reasons to celebrate such a spectacular success in ethnic cleansing.

The pure genocide

“Genocide” is the cruellest and the most violent form of crime against humanity. It targets people for arson, rape, torture and total annihilation purely based on race, religion, and language. Therefore, no one needs to do any wrong for becoming the definitive target of genocide. His or her faith, race, language or religion is enough to invite the worst type of murderous thugs, robbers and rapist at the doorstep. The case of Rohigya Muslims is the perfect example of that. It is indeed a violent expression of the very fast growing metastasising moral cancer. Now it appears that the cancer has deeply affected not only the civil and military institutions of Myanmar, but also the country’s Buddhist monks, the political elites, the intelligentsia, the media and a large section of the common people. Because of such a tsunamic scale of the moral disease, on 30th October 2017, tens of thousands of Burmese people assembled on the streets of Yangon –the former capital of Myanmar, to show full support for the Army. It was indeed a huge homage to the Army for the execution of its policy of killing, raping and ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslims.

The pure evil of state-terrorism

Double standard has become the most established norm in world politics; one rule for the Muslims and another rule for the non-Muslims is now visible everywhere. If a terrorist attack takes place in a western city by a Muslim, the western governments, the European Union, the media outfits, even the UN Security Council, spare no time to condemn it. The US President Donald Trump quickly grabs it as an opportunity to express anger and hatred against Islam. Such condemnation by the western leaders is very selective -only to promote their anti-Muslim bias and animosity. Because of such hateful mind-set, any act of terrorism even by a lone Muslim bomber –without any involvement of any Muslim state or institution, is labelled as Islamic terrorism. Thus, Islam –the religion of 1.6 billion Muslims gets vilified. But such condemnation doesn’t happen if the Muslims become the target of non-Muslim terrorists.

Ethnic cleansing & the only option

The ongoing massive campaign of ethnic cleansing provides little option for the Rohingya Muslims.  Former Muslim majority state of Arakan –now called Rakhine, is being rapidly transformed to a Muslim-free zone. As a part of the project, 176 villages –about one-third of all villages, are made fully empty of the Muslims. The current regime has proven that they can only offer deaths, rapes, destruction and eviction and no peace or security for the Rohingya Muslims. Although the Head of the UN Human Rights Commission has described the ongoing killing and eviction as a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing”, but they have done little to undo it. Those who are engaged in cold-blooded murder, rape, arson and eviction, no amount of moral appeal work on them. Even the Nobel Laurette Aung San Suu Kyi proved totally insensitive to such appeal. Hence, strong humanitarian appeal to stop the carnage by other Nobel Laurettes like Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, Professor Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh, Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama of Tibet and many others made little impact. Rather, she looks accommodative and submissive to the wishes of the killers.
